Staff Attendance:
Observer Note: This was a special meeting called for one purpose: to Accept Amended Amounts and Rates as Determined by the Budget Commission and to Authorize the Necessary Tax Levies and to Certify Them to the County Auditor.
Reviewer Note: At the prior Board Meeting on November 20th, the Board approved a reduction in tax collection of $1 million on the Emergency Levy. The reason for the reduction was due to the fact that West Geauga will receive a windfall amount of a little over $1 million (exact amount not yet determined by the State of Ohio) as a result of the state-mandated revaluation. It was stated at the November 20th meeting that the Resolution would require a second vote on November 27th. See LWVGeauga Report of November 20, 2023 meeting.
The audio for the video of this November 27th meeting was impossible to hear, especially for the first 3 minutes. The vote occurred at 4:06 on the video and at that point members could be heard voting yes.
The meeting was then adjourned.
Reviewer Note: At the Budget Commission meeting on December 4, 2023, West Geauga’s suppression of $1 million of their emergency levy tax collection was approved by the Budget Commissioners. See LWVGeauga Report on the December 4, 2023 Budget Commission meeting.
Next scheduled meeting - December 18, 2023
