West Geauga Board of Education - June 12, 2023


Meeting Details
: The West Geauga Board of Education met at 7 p.m. in the Board Office Community Room, 8615 Cedar Road in Chester Township.  Meetings are open to the public and media. The meeting agenda and minutes  are available online.  A recording  is available via YouTube here.

Public Comment Policy: permitted at all regular meetings in accordance with Public Policy 169.1

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order, attendance was taken and a quorum was established. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Additions and/or Changes to the Agenda - none 

 

Minutes: May 22, 2023 and May 30, 2023 minutes were approved through the consent agenda.

 

Presentation of State Track Participants by Mr. Brandon Stewart, Athletic Director  

He announced that West Geauga’s Daniel Kearns won the two-mile at the Ohio state track and field championship. Congratulations!

 

Public Remarks on Agenda Items - none 

 

Financial Resolutions - APPROVED one item creating a new fund, “Termination Benefits.”

 

Personnel Resolutions - APPROVED multiple items, including hiring Director of Transportation, accepting resignation of math and foreign language teachers, and numerous other stipend and staff contract decisions.

 

Policy and Program Resolutions - APPROVED changes to West Geauga High School Program of Study for 2023/2024.

 

Business Resolutions - APPROVED College Credit Plus Memorandum of Understanding with Cuyahoga Community College, agreement with ESC of Western Reserve, tutoring services at St. Anselm School and numerous agreements for behavioral services.

 

Superintendent Report

Primary focus has been preparation for the coming year with a specific focus on hiring new staff.

 

Board Reports - none

 

Executive Session - entered into for the purposes of discussing security matters and matters required to be kept confidential under state or federal law.  Upon returning to the regular session, no action was taken.

 

No additional business was discussed after the executive session
