It is our goal that each and every candidate, issue spokesperson, and voter will take advantage of this opportunity to affirm the value of our democratic processes.

Mark your calendars for September 30 and October 3 for these important county-wide events.

The League of Women Voters of Geauga (LWVG) will host two candidate forums prior to Ohio’s November 5, 2024, General Election.


Kenston Forum - September 30, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Each race is subject to the LWVG Empty Chair Policy, which has been updated as of June 2023. Please note that the League will not communicate reasons for non-participation from candidates.

Question Submission


Your questions for participating candidates and issues spokespeople can be submitted online via our portal until the following deadlines:
  • Kenston Submission Deadline - September 30, 2024, by 5 p.m.
    • Question portal is currently CLOSED until we receive RSVPs from invited candidates and issues.
    • Please check back after the RSVP deadline which is 9/8/24.
  • Berkshire Submission Deadline - October 3, 2024, by 5 p.m.
    • Question portal is currently CLOSED until we receive RSVPs from invited candidates and issues.
    • Please check back after the RSVP deadline which is 9/8/24.

Questions may also be submitted in-person at each event beginning at 6:30 p.m. when doors open.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates do not see questions ahead of time, nor do the LWVG event moderators or event team. The only individuals reviewing questions are the 3-member LWVG question screener panel at each event.

In order to have your question considered, please follow the LWVG guidelines below.

QUESTION CRITERIA

For Questions To Be Considered at a League of Women Voters of Geauga Candidate Forum, they must be:


Relevant

  • Is the question pertinent to the office? For example, a township trustee has no control over the Affordable Care Act.

Clearly Stated

  • Is the question presented in clear, unambiguous language that is easily understood?

Concise

  • Does the question omit unnecessary information and unimportant details?

Focused

  • Does the question focus on one, specific question? Multiple-part questions are less likely to be asked.

Informative

  • Is the question likely to elicit responses that help voters make informed choices?
